One of the places you'll see featured on
heaps of picture postcards of the Fethiye area! It IS a very dramatic, beautiful spot—a lagoon almost entirely cut off from the ocean. Some years ago, boats were banned from entering the lagoon, so as to prevent it from getting polluted. Well, that was a great plan. . .but alas, there wasn't nearly as much control over the tourist invasion of the place—during the main season, the beach is
totally packed with the lobster-pink bodies of northern Europeans come here to baste! :)
It's an interesting contrast to the other, more tranquil places we visit. . .and a fun afternoon lunch stop to wander along the beach and explore the lagoon shores. Then for the evening, we are off to a more isolated spot—tucked in behind the island of Gemiler Adasi, just 30mins motor around the corner—but a million miles from all the mass tourism!
