Travel Planning

So how do we get there?

We at SeaScape don't book airfares ourselves. Airline ticketing is a very specialised business, and best left to those agencies who devote their fulltime attention to it. Or of course, there's often some great deals to be had from airfare shopping online!

However, we're more than happy to share our local knowledge and help you put your itinerary together - just ask us!

For those who are planning a more extensive land-based trip around Greece and/or Turkey, we can recommend a great agency who know the area inside out, and can put the itinerary jigsaw pieces together for you - email us for contact details.

Greece

Home base: Leros island

Athens is the main international airport, with regular flights and ferries to the Dodecanese islands. Start-and-end points for our trips are Leros, Samos or Kos. Samos & Kos have international airports; Leros has a small domestic airport. Flight times are approx 50mins from Athens. Ferry connections run from Athens, other Dodecanese islands & Turkey.

There are also charter flights direct from the UK to Samos, Kos & Rhodes. These islands are all within easy ferry distance of Leros. The low-cost carrier Easyjet also offers a very useful route direct to Rhodes; book early to get the good rates!   More details

Turkey

Home base: Keci Buku (close to Marmaris)

Our cruising grounds are on the southern coast of Turkey, around the Datca peninsula. Our home base is a little harbour called Keci Buku, 30mins from the main town of Marmaris. The closest airport is Dalaman, with regular 90min connections from Istanbul. Direct charter flights also run from the UK (and other European cities) to Dalaman.

Regular ferries between Rhodes-Marmaris provide another useful access point. One can easily fly into Rhodes then take an hour-long ferry trip over to Turkey. Our base is just 30mins from Marmaris main town.   More details

Our 'Combo' trips

Bases: Leros & Keci Buku. Midpoint: Kos (Greece).

If you book early, it's possible to fly into Athens and out of Istanbul at a reasonable cost. However, should a return to just one city prove more cost-effective, multiple ferry connections between Greece and Turkey make it easy to travel from one country to the other.   More details

Here are the ferry routes between Greece and Turkey for our area.

  • Samos—Kusadasi (approx 90mins)
  • Kos—Bodrum (45-50 mins)
  • Rhodes—Marmaris (1hr)

NOTE: If you have frequent flyer miles you're thinking of using - book them early! This is a very popular route, and "miles" seats go fast.
